Since its formation in 1998 The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Tust has been committed to supporting young people from diverse, disadvantaged backgrounds to help them break the social and economic barriers that stood between them and a career in architecture and urban design – Stephen’s chosen career. The trust has awarded nearly 100 bursaries and has now seen our eighth “Stephen” qualify as an architect.
In 2008, with the help of Public funding, The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Tust opened the magnificent Stephen Lawrence Centre in Deptford.
The Stephen Lawrence Centre, designed by the award-winning architect David Adjaye, excites and inspires its visitors to create an engaging learning environment. The Centre was opened in 2008, and over time the aspirations of the Centre have grown with the Stephen Lawrence Trust’s core beliefs.
Today, as well as delivering The Trust’s wider access and opportunity programmes, the Centre hosts community-based programmes for all ages including programmes in IT, creative arts and multi-media. In addition, the Centre is a favoured venue for learning and development programmes for businesses of all types and sizes.
The Centre boasts AV and hi-spec IT suites, creative labs, meeting rooms and common areas all of which are available for hire at competitive rates.
